Vasily Chuikov

Chuikov was a lieutenant general in World War II.
Before the war he was sent to China as an advisor to Chiang Kai-shek. He
returned to the USSR in 1942. He was then placed in command of the 64th
Army. He was in command of the 64th during the battle of Stalingrad.
In Stalingrad he was in command of 62 soviet army,
which was army in the city Stalingrad.
He was then given the command of the 8th Guards
where he led its advance through Poland. Finally he headed the Soviet
offensive which captured Berlin in April 1945. He was the first Allied
officer to learn about Hitler's suicide.
