Invasion of Poland
Germany and the Soviet Union developed the Pact of Steel to divide Poland and to not attack each other. On September the 1st early in the morning 50 German divisions invaded Poland. The Germans invaded from the north (East Prussia) and the south (occupied Czecklosovakia) and from the west (Germany).
At this time Poland’s army was majority made up of infantry divisions, a couple of brigades of motorized and Calvary. Going against the Polish was 27 infantry divisions, 6 armor divisions, 8 motorized German divisions. The German plan was to encircle the Polish forces.
By 4th of September the 10th army reached River Sur. September 17th Soviet Union (Russia) invaded and smashed what little hope was left for Poland. The Polish government was no longer (or exiled). The Soviet and German invaded because of land that was lost by the formation of Poland after World War I and the Pact of Steel helped to regain the area. September 27th Warsaw surrendered after a month and a day. For the Soviets the invasion lasted 25 days.
