Erwin Johannes Eugen Rommel 15 November 1891 – 14 October 1944 Nickname - Desert Fox
Rommel was one of Field Marshal in Second World War. He got his nickname the “Desert Fox” for his skill full in military tactics in North Africa. He had lots victories in the beginning of the campaign which earned high moral to his troops, and also earned the respect of Hitler when he was command of axis forces in North Africa.
In the invasion of France he led the seventh panzer division. He led them very successfully that he would lead the German Africa corps. Rommel had success in North Africa till El Alamein when British forces turned that tide in North Africa. While North Africa corps (axis) was defeat by allied force he was given command of German forces in occupied France. He was later related of his command when he was suspected of the failed assassination on Hitler life in wolf lair.
For the suspected for failed assassination on Hitler life he was given a choice of committing suicide with cyanide or facing trial by people court and the murder or having his family and staff put in concentration camp.
